These are not your little sisters vampires--they're not beautiful and they certainly don't glitter in the sun. They'll totally bite you without thinking twice. If you're lucky they'll drink you dry and/or tear you limb from limb. Otherwise you'll become one of them.
And trust me, you don't want to join their ranks (unless you're insane). These vamps aren't your regular bloodsuckers. That is to say, Bram Stoker's Dracula has nothing on Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's creations. They're really disgusting and extra murdery.
Oh, and when you become one of them your sex organs shrivel up, because you won't need them anymore--just FYI.
This second installment of the Strain trilogy lives up to it's predecessor. I recommend this series to anyone who's had it with sexy brooding teenage vampires and all the lameness that ensues when they're the creepy obsession love interest of a static and incredibly boring MC.
The Strain and The Fall are especially fun reads during the month of October. So check them out sometime.
